The ASP Airweight Baton ADVANTAGE:
Weighing approximately 45% less than comparable steel batons, the ASP Airweight
loses only 2% of the striking potential of its heavier counterpart. The 7075
aluminum tubing for the baton is custom fabricated to ASP specifications. This
is the same alloy that is used in the receiver of the M16. It is extremely strong.
The striking surface of the Airweight is 4140 steel tubing. In addition to
being noticeably lighter, ASP
Baton Airweights move more rapidly than steel batons. They allow a faster
“bridge” between strikes.
No other company produces a lightweight expandable
baton with the compactness, strength and striking potential of the ASP Airweight
Baton.
•It has the Foam Vinyl Grip for a firm, durable hold.
•The 21" is the most popular size
•The 26" is the choice of most Law Enforcement Agencies

I was very satisfied with the baton. I had a steel one, gave it to my wife and she felt it was too heavy to carry in her purse. thus my most recent purchase of the aluminum baton. the scabbard looked great but was too bulky for my uses. I will make a slimmer case.

Lightweight, excellence quality baton. Smooth action when expanding baton and it doesn't rattle when not expanded. I had a cheaper brand of baton before getting this one and it was heavy, didn't expand smoothly, rattled when walking if retracted and didn't always lock when expanded.

I recently purchased the 16" Airweight Baton and couldn't be happier. The closed size is perfect to carry in either a front or back pocket and is so light you hardly even know it's there. The quality is outstanding and well made.

I was, at first, very skeptical at purchasing this baton. I had heard a lot of reviews from nay-sayers about how they are poorly made and lock up all the time. Obviously they were wrong about the ASP. I have had mine for a while now, and I am very pleased with it.
The quality is superb and it extends with very little effort. Like most people said, it does require a lot of effort to collapse. However, you get used to it, and I think this only shows how durable it is in action; it won't collapse when you don't want it to. It fits very nicely inside your jacket and is barely noticeable (to you; its completely unnoticeable to others).
I have actually used it in a self-defense situation. This is a true story; I was surrounded by about 6 guys who were either going to rob me or hurt me. One had a knife. I pulled out my baton. Just that action alone, I believe, gave them a second thought and I was able to run away quickly. I like to think that showing the baton caused them to back down a little. I sure would not fight someone with one, even if I had a knife. Now, because of that incident, I always carry it wherever I go. It's worth it.
I have the 21" Aluminum, with rubber handle, and I love it. My dad has the 26" Chrome, and he loves it, but I find it too heavy and big for easy concealed carry. Keep in mind, you need a CHL to carry it in your jacket.
Excellent product.
