ASP
Tactical Batons
The
difference between the 5 different models is in the steel,
grip style and the metal finish
The
first 2 batons are the black
chrome and the federal.
The main difference between these three is the grip style.
The black chrome and the chrome have a vinyl grip, while the
Federal sports a Rubber grip. Some may find the vinyl handle
more comfortable because it is softer. The rubber is harder
material, but it will last longer than the vinyl.
Also,
the chrome has a shiny finish while the black chrome and federal
have a bright black finish.
The
next 2 models are the Airweight
and the Duratec.
If you are concerned about weight, you want to consider these
two because they are made out of aluminum. The drawback is
the 40% reduction in strength as aluminum is weaker than the
4140 steel used in the other batons.
Besides
that, the difference between the airweight and duratec is
in the grip. The airweight has the vinyl grip while the duratec
has the rubber grip. Even though the airweight and
duratec are 40% lighter, they still maintain 98% of their
striking potential!
The
last baton is the Electroless.
It is made of the same strong 4140 steel as the black chrome
and federal. If you are working or living in a very humid
environment (Florida?), this baton will give you more corrosion
resistance because it is plated with electroless nickel. The
electroless also has the vinyl grip.
